The Best Banana Bread Ever [NUT FREE]


There are a lot of banana bread recipes out there. But this one, by far is the best. When I was growing up, this was the family treat mom would make. Fresh out of the oven, melted butter, and a cup of milk, yes ma’am! It’s sooooo good, and simple to make! And, for those of you with nut allergies, this recipe is totally nut free!


  • 3-4 ripe bananas
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 c flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Bake 325° for 1 hour

Step One –

Mash bananas (I am doubling the recipe in the pictures, so if your bowl isn’t as full, that is totally fine!)

Step Two –

Add creamed butter and sugar, and eggs with mixer or hand mixer.

Step Three –

Add sifted dry ingredients to mixture. This batter is a fairly wet batter, so if it doesn’t look like your normal bread dough’s, that’s ok!

Step Four –

Add batter to greased pans. I like to use our cast iron bread pans, and grease with butter, but cooking spray, and regular bread pans work great too! A regular batch makes two medium sized loaves, but a double makes about three large loaves.

Step Five –

Bake! Normal and convection ovens on 325° take about an hour, but I’ve found in a gas oven, it takes about 45 minutes. When you pull it out of the oven, if you touch the touch and it springs back, it’s ready. If it has a dimple from your finger, it could use 3-5 more minutes.
